Hill Walking Trails and other Activities

As already mentioned, we are located on the Western Way walking trail. This leads you around the lake shore to the scenic area of Maum (where director John Ford filmed "The Quiet Man"). Stop at the famous Keane's Pub in Maum and have lunch or a quiet drink then be collected by one of our lodge boats (prior arrangement necessary) for a boat trip on the lake. Perhaps stop on historic Castlekirk - a small island housing the ruins of a substantial fortification. Round your day off with one of our wonderful home cooked meals at Nonaim Lodge.

There are many other walks available around Nonaim Lodge - one to suit any level of fitness.

Walking is just one of the many activities guests can enjoy whilst staying at Nonaim Lodge : the guest house is well placed for visiting the sights of Co Galway and overlooks the beautiful Lough Corrib

Or why not try exploring the vastness of Lough Corrib with its hundreds of islands? Bring a picnic, swim or simply relax on a quiet island. Visit the famous island of Inchagoill with its ancient churches one of which is early 6th Century and is reputed to be the burial place of St. Patrick's nephew.

Other activities include:

Exploring Connemara
Nonaim Lodge is in the ideal spot from which to explore the magic of Connemara

Shopping in Galway and Oughterard
Spend your morning browsing the shops in Oughterard then continue on to "The City of the Tribes"

Golfing
There is a range of excellent golf courses throughout Connemara and Galway including one in Oughterard. Oughterard also has a Pitch and Putt course for the more leisurely.

Horse Riding
Horse riding facilities are available nearby and cater for all ages and abilities.

Or if all these are too much, simply relax. Do nothing but read or take in the marvelous scenery. Sit in our garden or lounge and unwind in our stress free environment. Whatever your interest is we are certain that we can help make your stay with us even more enjoyable.
